Wow! We used to go to a different campground nearby for July 4 holiday. We've found a diamond in the rough here. Extremely friendly staff. Very friendly campground. They had a 35 minute fireworks show over the lake (outstanding). Good fishing in the lake (catch and release; some nice size bass) Now the negatives: Roads were pretty slippery but take into consideration it rained something like 24 days in June. Water pressure up on top of the hill where we were was pretty weak. Our solution was to just fill our tanks and use the pump. Problem solved. I'm also not so sure the electric up top is 30 amp. We didn't need the AC because those sites are fully shaded. I did use the microwave and it didn't sound like it was getting full power. We do a lot of state parks so we're kind of used to roughing it a little. The positives far outweigh the negatives here. We'll definitely be going back.
Nice CG. The sites were a little too close with not enough vegetation to give much privacy. We had a lakefront site ( big mistake ) There is a neat little trail that goes around the lake. Nice to walk but a little uncomfortable trying to eat dinner with everybody walking by. There were some pretty nice sites in the furthest ring though. The fishing was pretty good with a lot of trout in the lake. If you've read any of my other reviews you'll see I like to fish so a good fishing lake always gets a higher rating from me. Overall I would recommend this CG.
We've been going to Keen Lake for several years. Always loved it. Great fishing, friendly people etc. But something happened. I don't know if management changed in the family or just the times are changing. There are a lot more seasonal sites now. A lot of rude people who don't seem to be the typical friendly campers that brought us back year after year. We booked our sites ( we usually go in small groups) at least six months in advance. We asked for and were told we'd be in a specfic area. Wooded near the lake. A couple weeks prior to our trip I called to find out what sites we were getting. They told me they couldn't tell me yet. I found that odd but after years of camping there I trusted them. When I got there I found my very small site in full sun nowhere near the lake. I immediately went to the office. I was told the only other sites I could change to were at the farthest point in the campground against the road. They didn't even apologize for their error. Unfortunately We won't be going back. They just don't seem to care so I won't either.
Very small campground but extremely friendly staff and seasonal clientele. Sites are wooded and some are spacious. The pond has some large fish for catch and release. I can't say enough good things about everybody I've come in contact with all four times we've camped there. This place is a great weekender.
